Roasting Styles

There are many roast styles but to keep things from getting too complicated we will keep things simple. The following roasting descriptions are listed below. Often the roaster needs to apply variations between these roasts and we ask that you trust your roasters judgment. We might need to  apply a slightly lighter or darker roast listed types below depending on a large set of variables.

   American
This is a medium bodied roast medium brown in color and the bean has no oils and is dry to to look and touch of the bean. We offer the roast style to preserve some of the floral and citrus flavors that can often be found in  African and Latin American coffees.

  City

Slightly darker than American roast. Roasting is halted prior to the small hints of oils seen with a Full City roast.

  Full City

This is a balance between full body and acidity which makes the coffee feel more alive like a pop or surprise  When you get that first taste. Rich brown in color. You begin to notice some small hints of oils coming to the surface.

   Vienna

Moderate dark brown still some acidity left. Bitter sweet with a heavy body.

  French Roast or Italian

Dark brown in color.  Most of the complex flavors of the coffee are no longer present. A burnt undertone is present as the dominant flavor. Depending on the country of origin, the beans are heavily coated in oils.
